UCSD Will Roll Into The East Village With Exciting New Project

Talent continues to flood into the East Village, and it’s only the beginning.

While the final touches are being put on IDEA1, other like-minded ventures are taking shape. The most recent is UCSD‘s Park & Market project which will include 426 apartments, a 53,000-square-foot office and classroom building, an outdoor amphitheater, and a renovated historic house that will most likely be converted into a restaurant.

Referred to as a flagship project, the property will draw college talent to the heart of our city, fostering growth for innovation and the downtown tech boom.

The property will not only serve residents and faculty, but also the surrounding community. One of its missions is to help prepare students for college through efforts including free tutoring at nearby libraries prior to enrollment.

When ideas expand past the classroom, the second floor of the building will be reserved for a “talent accelerator” where startup entrepreneurs will receive extensive training on how to launch their businesses. With the tools for success, new companies will create new jobs as well as a thriving entrepreneurial spirit in the East Village.

This like-minded development will enhance the vibrant, creative spirit that drew us to the East Village. We look forward to having UCSD as our neighbors and fellow contributors in beautiful downtown San Diego.
